For the song memories, I decided to do another prisma color. I find myself gravitating towards prismas as I continue because they are so fun and great to use. It was kind of hard to think of how to illustrate a concept like memories, so I decided to do a photograph. Photos are a way to look back on old memories so I did that. I did two different hands holding it, one is a guy's hand and one is a girl's, to connect the drawing to the overall meaning of the song, which is two people in love.
In the song, Elvis sings "sweetened through the ages just like wine", so I drew some wine glasses with "wine" (but if you pay attention to the actual wine bottle it says "Sparkling Grape Juice", so it gives it a personal twist since I am not old enough to drink wine). In the song he also mentions how memories settle to the ground "like autumn leaves" so on the wine bottle I drew autumn leaves. The background in the drawing is a light purple, inspired by the line in the song "a twilight trimmed in purple haze". The 1968 at the bottom of the photograph is the year the song was published.
Originally, the picture I took of the photograph, the plant was on the other side, but I switched it all around so the plant would be on the opposite side of the green wine bottle. I'm glad I did that because I think it evens out the drawing. I like the wood texture, I think that turned out well. Although this isn't one of my favorites, overall I like it and I think it looks good.
