For my landscape piece, I decided to do water color because the picture itself was very smooth with the still water, and I thought water color would help the piece look as calm as it was in the picture. I started with the closest thing to the front and moved my way back, saving the bridge and sky for very last. The first time through, it was very basic, there weren't many details. So I went back and added more darker tones to the trees and I tried to develop a texture to the trees by blotting the paint brush. I also added more to the bridge, making the darker areas more dark and lightening up highlights on the bridge, to make it stand out more. I also added a darker pink to the sky to make the clouds stand out more which I'm glad I did because I think that helped the painting a lot. Then I added a few more details like trees in a few spots and some bushes just to create a detailed look but still having a simplistic calm look of the picture.
I'm pretty new to water color, so it was interesting to use on a landscape piece. I think the most difficult part was the trees because they're so small in the picture, it's hard to get really detailed without making it look cluttered. But I think adding the darker tones and some trees scattered help pull it all together. The easiest part was actually the bridge. I was able to add more detail to that too, like the highlights on top of the red things, so it would stand out more.
Overall, I think it turned out well. I really enjoyed using water colors. Although getting different colors and getting details in the trees were slightly difficult with water color, I think I got the hang of it.
